The wording on a digital invitation follows exactly the same conventions as a printed one. You still need a host line, the couple's names, the date and time spelled out in full, the ceremony location, reception details, and RSVP instructions. What changes is the mechanics of the RSVP: instead of a reply card, guests click directly through the invitation to respond.
The host line is where most couples spend the most time. If the bride's parents are hosting: "Mr. and Mrs. Jonathan Clarke request the honor of your presence." If both families are involved: "Together with their families, Eleanor and Marcus invite you to celebrate their marriage." If the couple is hosting themselves, lead with their names. It's increasingly common and entirely appropriate.
For tone, let the venue and the wedding itself be your guide. A hotel ballroom or church ceremony calls for formal, spelled-out language.
